In today’s economy tightening the belt on your budget has become even more important. One of the first things to go is skin and beauty care. Really, with most skin care products selling at $12 to $20 or more, not many of us arewilling to spend that precious money. To offset not buying your favorite products, its time to make your own. Many of the things you have in your cupboards and refrigerator make excellent skin and body care remedies. The recipes are not time consuming, nor calling for odd expensive ingredients. Here is the first in my installment of home remedy products.
EYES
For those times your eyes are looking puffy and tired follow these easy tips.
Rose Soak-
4 rose petals from your garden
8 ounces of boiling water
Boil water in a medium saucepan. Place rose petals in a deep bowl, and pour boiling water over petals. Seep in water for 10 to 15 minutes. Scoop petals out and discard. Cool and soak two cotton balls in the rose water. Place on closed eyes for 10 minutes.
Milk Balls-
6 ounces chilled milk
Soak two cotton balls in a cup of chilled milk. Place on closed eyelids for 5 minutes to refresh your eyes. Gently rinse eyes with cold water when done to get rid of the milk smell.
Vegetable Slice-
1 potato
1 cucumber
Using two slices of either the above vegetables and placing them on your closed eyelids for 10 minutes works wonders for bringing down the puffy look.
LIPS
A body part often ignored when it comes to skin care. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water, as it not only helps your skin, but your lips as well.
Honey Scrub-
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon honey
Combine baking soda and honey until it becomes a paste. Apply to your lips, gently rubbing the mix in, and leave on for 5 minutes. Rinse lips with warm water.
Yogurt-
Place 1 teaspoon of plain yogurt on your lips. Let dry and rinse gently with warm water. This works great if your lips have been exposed to extreme wind, sun, or cold.
As with any skin care product, please check ingredients to make sure you aren’t allergic first.
It does not take hundreds dollars worth of skin and body care products to create the healthy look and feel you want. Doing just a bit of research can not only save you money, but you just might find a recipe you prefer over your favorite costly product.
