Cardboard is most widely used for packaging purposes. After it had served its function, cardboard keeps on adding to the landfills with 22% of unrecoverable elements. However, an eco-conscious fraction of artists, including Mark Langan and Chris Gilmour, utilizes the 78% of the recoverable stuff and makes it a part of their creativity. Artists employ some great skills to cut these cardboard pieces into layers to form some awesome cardboard creations from them. Creativity marries sustainability through their unparalleled art. Here we have listed some of their unique artworks that bring out the message of reuse and recycling in a refined new way: • Chris Gilmour shapes cardboard into autos: An English artist based in Italy creates life-size replicas and sculptures with materials never used before. Chris Gilmour created an amazing full scale M8 from cardboard and hot glue for motorsport enthusiast Bob Rubin. The car is coated with high-gloss paint and has MacLaren stroller logo on the M8B’s wing endplates. More here.

David Stark hosted a fantastic silent auction last year at the opening of West Elm’s newest Manhattan shop. The artist created the one-of-a-kind furniture and objects from recycled west elm packing materials. David’s work was able to raise $8,000 from the sales. More here.

Trier University of Applied Science students built a stand at design fair imm Cologne by stacking up pizza boxes. Called Booth-generator, the high-tech design tool involved the use of low-tech and easy to recycle material “pizza box“. More here.
