Sand sculptors, through their inimitable art, make the granular stuff vocal enough to stir a thinking soul. While sometimes you see the grainy material morphed into a miniature building, the art becomes equally mesmerizing when it brings castles, creatures and human figures into actuality. At the annual International Festival of Sand Sculpture in St. Petersburg, sand artists from Russia, Ukraine, the Netherlands, Finland, Czech Republic, Latvia, Germany and France gathered round to weave the same magic. The festival was based on the theme: World Cinema.
